On a High Note: Is the Future of Travel Green?

With more than 10 million EVs on the world's roads and the future of transportation looking to EVs as a solution, the demand for EV chargers is now higher than ever. In proof of concept of the growing demand for chargers, Airbnb has announced that 850,000 of its global listings now feature one EV charger as an amenity.

Last year, the company introduced the EV charging search filter to help meet guests' needs when planning travel. Among the new updates rolled out last year, the number of searches by Airbnb guests for EV Chargers doubled between June and December, totaling over half a million unique searches by year end.

Home-sharing itself is considered greener travel as it relies on existing infrastructure -- apartments and homes -- to welcome guests. Like many in the tourism and hospitality space last year, Airbnb committed to a goal of operating as a Net Zero company by 2030, reducing carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions associated with global corporate operations, and investing in quality nature-based solutions to offset residual emissions.
